Eating right to suit your blood type” is a subject that is come up a lot in the chat rooms lately, so as promised, here is more information about the topic.
First of all there are two bibles on this subject written by Dr. Peter J. D’Adamo. The first is “Eat Right 4 Your Type” and the second, “Cook Right 4 Your Type”. If you are really interested in pursuing this lifestyle, I STRONGLY recommend you buy both of these books and read them from cover to cover to see if these diets are for you. For those of you who have cancer, low blood sugar, are on medication or are diabetic, check this plan out with your doctor before embarking on any new diet. Below I have summarised the basic principles behind the Eat Right 4 Your Type, which is intended to spiritually and physically heal people by feeding the body’s blood the “right” foods.
D’Adamo’s theory is that certain blood types represent an older strain of mankind. Your blood type, which you can find out from your doctor, can represent a certain stage of evolution and also indicate how much ancestral history you are carrying in your DNA.
People with Type O blood were thought to be the earliest humans on earth and were mainly carnivorous cavemen. Type O dates back to the ascendance of the Cro-Magnons and is still the most common blood type in the world. People with Type O blood are thought to have extremely high acid content in the stomach, which enables them to digest protein-heavy foods.
Red meat is the most recommended source of protein for Type O’s followed by chicken and fish. Eggs and dairy are considered to be a poor source of protein for the Type O. Olive oil is the cooking medium of choice but they gain a lot of weight if they eat nuts. They do not digest beans and vegetables well and are allergic or intolerant to wheat or other grains. Vegetables from the cabbage family cause digestive distress for Type O’s, as do melons, cantaloupes and citrus. Corn causes them to become overweight or diabetic. Good fruits for the Type O are plums, and figs and optimum vegetables are the leafy green ones such as kale and spinach.
Type A blood type did not evolve until about 25,000 B.C. These humans were cultivators who mainly thrived on a diet of plants, grains and fish. They were different than the Type O hunters who needed red meat to keep their bodies in optimal working order. The Type A blood human being could convert plant material into protein much easier.
Type As can’t digest meat very well, so soy and fish should be the main sources of protein. Most of them can’t tolerate dairy products at all, only small amounts of yogurt. Type A’s should avoid corn or safflower oils as it raises their cholesterol. Type A’s are big seedeaters and thrive on almonds, walnuts and peanuts. They also tolerate beans and grains well. All vegetables are a crucial part of the Type A diet with the exception of potatoes and peppers which aggravate their digestive system. They can also tolerate any kind of fruit, except persimmons and pomegranates.
Humans with Type B blood did not begin appearing until about 10,0000 B.C. This is one of the best blood types to have, as they are basically the hybrid blood type created by the mixing of both Type A and Type O blood types. This blood type, which is known as the nomads thrives and survives eating just about anything.
Type B’s take well to any kind of protein; except for chicken and that can lower their immune systems. They should also avoid shellfish. Type B is the only blood type that can fully enjoy all dairy products, as the lactose in the milk is the primary sugar that supports their blood nutritionally. They should avoid corn oil and avoid eating nuts and seeds, which can interfere with their blood sugar levels. They should avoid all beans except for kidney or navy beans. Type B’s should avoid wheat and rye, which causes them to gain weight and stick to rice and oats. They should also limit soy. They can eat any vegetable except for the tomato and any fruit except for pineapple
Approximately ten centuries ago, a new, rare blood type emerged called AB. This is the evolution of Type A and Type B bloods through evolution and people with this blood type are thought to have strong immune systems but weak digestive systems.
The primary sources of protein for AB should be seafood and tofu, except they are to avoid the lighter coloured fishes such as halibut and cod and shellfish. Dairy products are not agreeable to this blood type at all can make them very sick with illnesses such a asthma. They are to avoid nuts, which causes gallstones for them. They are usually allergic to wheat and corn. Lentils are an important cancer fighting food for AB’s. They tolerate every vegetable except for the tomato and avoid all tropical fruits and stick to grapes, plums and berries to alkalinise their acidic blood.
For those of you who are interested in pursuing this further please remember to read D’Adamo’s books first and check this plan out with your doctor before embarking on any new diet.

To Prevent The Cancer Diagnosis, You Should….

All my experience watching people “get” and overcome cancer can be boiled down into one sentence: What we put in our mouth causes and reverses all degenerative diseases. All of them can be avoided and overcome by correcting what we put in our mouth (just another way of saying the same thing).

DIET

So, first things first. Detoxify your body and avoid cancer (and all other degenerative diseases) by fixing your diet. Stop eating processed food (hydrolized this and hydrogenated that), dairy, red meat, sugar and other sweeteners (even honey and maple syrup), preservatives and chemicals. Stop drinking coffee and alcohol and using cigarettes and prescription drugs. Hmmmmm. Tall order.

[Of course, I’m not recommending that you stop taking prescription drugs immediately. Consult your doctor. In Chapter 1 of my book are 11 website directories of “holistic” doctors who are sympathetic with this approach and will help you gradually eliminate your prescription drugs — all of which have side effects.]

Diet books abound. Many are worthless. The theories in one are contradicted by those in another. Find any book by John McDougall, Susan Powter, Robert Pritikin, Gary Null, Dean Ornish, Neal Barnard and Terry Sintani. You’ll get sound advice on your diet. They describe a diet {and give you tasty recipes) based on whole grains, beans, most vegetables, some local fruit and small amounts of poultry and seafood (if your system is compatible with seafood). This is how you get and stay well.

Did you know that many studies with fruit flies and mice (they live conveniently short lives) show that restricting your calories to 30-40% less than what you are now eating will extend your life expectancy by 40%, no matter when you start it. Amazing but true. The same effect can be obtained by fasting every other day.

The Japanese are first in the world in life expectancy (average 81.9 years). The French are 7th. The U.S. is 23rd. Why do you think this is true? The average American eats 170 pounds of sugar every year. Junk food and processed food with no nutrients cut our life span by years and ensure that most of us will suffer from prolonged degenerative disease before we die.

Changing your diet is the least expensive and most productive thing you can do to improve your health and lifespan. I began getting this right when I married my present wife in 1995. I was 64.

EXERCISE

OK, you’ve heard it since grade school. Exercise is good for you. But did you know that gradually building up to one hour a day of strenuous exercise (where it is difficult but not impossible to talk to the person next to you) doesn’t just benefit your bones, muscles, tendons, endurance, etc.? It also affects your cellular health and avoids cancer, heart disease, stroke, diabetes, osteoporosis, arthritis, multiple sclerosis, irritable bowel syndrome, chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia and virtually all other degenerative disease.

Get clearance from your doctor, of course, and get supervision when you start by hiring a qualified trainer. Details of the program I use are in my book. I started a regular exercise program I’ve become “hooked” on when I was 60. What’s your excuse? Age? Physical condition? Hey — just do it!

SUPPLEMENTS

Just take “One-A-Day” vitamins and you’re home free. NOT!!

The so-called “Recommended Daily Allowances” (RDA) of vitamins and minerals are woefully below the optimum level you need to maintain vibrant health. There is no real excuse for this. There are thousands of studies of the effect of supplements and the best daily dosage. Unfortunately, if you try to follow these guidelines with individual supplements like Vitamin C, beta carotene, CoQ10, colloidal silver, selenium, astralagus, etc., etc. you will soon go broke.

Better to find one of the formulas put together by knowledgeable health professionals. I mention the one I have used for about 15 years in my book. I am 73 and in perfect health. It is Dr. David Williams’ Daily Advantage. It costs about $44 a month, but it has kept me healthy ever since I started taking it (and exercising regularly). You can get more information at Dr. Williams’ web site: http://www.DrDavidWilliams.com/ or by calling Mountain Home Nutritionals in Ranson, West Virginia at (800) 888-1415.

I get no compensation of any kind from any of the products I recommend. My conviction that this is the best, however, was reinforced recently when I read a book called “Comparative Guide to Nutritional Supplements,” by Lyle MacWilliam, BSc, MSc, FP. The author had compiled charts which compared 500 “nutritionals” supplements. Daily Advantage was not one of them. However, when I compared its ingredients with the “top 5″ in the book using his “blended standard,” it was better than any of them.

Your age now is immaterial. Whatever age you are, whatever your current health condition is, starting a sound supplement program is essential. I started getting this right when I was 58.

THE FOUR-LEGGED STOOL

The above three “vitals” — diet, exercise and supplements — form what many have called a “three-legged stool of health.” The idea is that if you neglect any one of the legs, the “stool” (your health) collapses.

Others have suggested that the “stool” has a fourth leg, which is spiritual faith. I don’t try to cover it in my book, but there is evidence that it has a strong role in maintaining or regaining your health.

I’ll be back soon with an article on specific recommendations for overcoming cancer. I am just a “reporter,” not a medical professional. Any changes in your health regiman should be discussed with your doctor.

Head Congestion: Ways to Relieve Naturally

by Ben Lynch

A congested bounding head is not a pleasure. Neither is taking drug after drug in attempt to relieve it.

Head congestion can be due to a number of causes:

  • lack of sleep
  • lack of water
  • laying down too long
  • blocked sinuses
  • lack of exercise
  • food allergy
  • cold or flu or other acute illness

There are a number of ways to relieve a congested head:

  • Food: hot soups, spicey meals, hot broths
  • Fluid: hot teas and plenty of water
  • Nasal irrigation: I wrote an entire post about this.
  • Hydrotherapy: using cold and how water to move blood about.
  • Air humidifier: add salt and eucalyptus oil to it.
  • Topical essential oils: vick’s vapor rub on your temples, sinuses and chest.
  • Avoid cold foods: limit dairy
  • Thid-Eye Point: acupressure relief

Food

Make a steamy hot bowl of spiced broth. That will get your body core heated up and cause your nose to run. A running nose will allow your sinuses to drain which will ease off the pressure in your head.

Fluid

Not drinking enough water will cause your mucous membranes to be less watery and more sticky. This causes backup and backup causes pressure. Pressure equals head congestion. Drink tons.

Nasal Irrigation

This is paramount if you have chronic sinus infections - or even a one-time blocked sinus that is not draining. Just last week I was laying down in bed with a bounding headache, nauseated and not wanting to get up. I forced myself to do so. After taking 10 minutes to get vertical, I found that my right sinus was blocked. I prepared a neti pot with my salt and neti wash plus and flushed both sides of my nose for a few minutes. My sinuses began to drain like mad and the headache was …gone.

Hydrotherapy: Wet Sock Treatment

Sound goofy? It may but it is effective especially for kids with ear infections. It works by pulling blood away from your head to your feet. Blood is pulled as the temperature of the feet is low due to the cold damp socks. The body wants to maintain warmth to all tissues and if one area is made cold, the body will attempt to warm it. The contrast between hot to cold is the most desired effect so ensure that you warm the feet very well prior to placing the cold socks. This will help ensure a proper outcome.

  1. Find a pair of light cotton socks.
  2. Find a pair of heavy wool socks.
  3. Place the cotton socks in a bowl of ice water…or put in the freezer.
  4. Heat up feet in a bucket of hot water or just take a hot bath.
  5. Dry the feet
  6. Wring out the cold cotton socks.
  7. Immediately put the ice cold socks onto the feet and cover with the wool socks.
  8. Lay down for the night and go to sleep - or keep them on for the day while around the house.

I recommended this to a friend of mine with nightly migraine headaches. She did this prior to bed and her migraines did not appear. It sounds like it will be a shock to the system but it is fine as the feet are hot. It actually feels nice.

Topical essential oils

These are wondrous yet can be problematic if not careful. They should not be in reach of children as they are deadly. Yes deadly. They are super concentrated oils and if swallowed or touched directly onto a little one’s skin, serious burns or other harms can be done. Keep in a locked cabinet or way up high.

Visit your favorite health store to figure out which ones you like the best. I am a fan of eucalyptus, rosemary and cedar. One must dilute the essential oil in a base of olive oil before applying.

Apply to your temples, on your maxillary and frontal sinsuses and you may want to put some between your upper lip and nose. Do not put in your nose directly as they will burn your mucous membranes. Keep away from your eyes also.

Limit dairy products

Dairy products and sugar are major mucous forming foods and will only increase head congestion. Limit the amount eaten during this time and you will likely recover faster.

Third Eye Acupressure Point

According to acupressure.com, this point will help. “Directly between the eyebrows, in the indentation where the bridge of the nose meets the center of your forehead.” Simply place pressure at this point using the method shown to the right. I have sourced the article in full for you. Simply click on the link above.
